Undertale: Last Breath（简称Last Breath，或ULB）是由ZerJox创建，现由Expressly持有的，在Undertale灭族线路中引入隐藏角色Gaster以改变其剧情走向的Undertale同人项目。

历程
2019年9月14日，Zerjox创建了Undertale: Last Breath的GameJolt页面，并在其YouTube频道宣布了这一项目的启动，[1]该项目的游戏制作团队Team Imagination也在随后的某段时间内得以组建。同年10月，Zerjox发布了包含该项目第一章第一阶段的部分回合及其以前制作的Horrortale Sans同人战斗的演示版本游戏。[2]在持续为演示版本游戏发布更新以完善第一阶段后，[3][4]Zerjox在2020年1月7日发布了第一章的第二阶段游玩内容。[5][6][7]在此之后，Team Imagination吸纳了更多新成员，而项目的部分内容也在经由新成员翻新的同时得以扩充。[8]
Last Breath于3.0.0版本的游戏截图。
2020年6月6日，Zerjox发布了Last Breath第一章的全流程游戏。[9][10]随后，Team Imagination计划修改故事背景以及第一章第三阶段，[11]并开始着手推进第二章的构思与制作。但由于团队内部在对第二章剧情上的决策不一致，同年8月3日，Zerjox宣布取消游戏第二章的制作——其原计划包含主角以新形态对地底世界部分场景的探索以及同其余角色的战斗，并宣称该项目也已足够完整。同时，Zerjox也计划对该项目的现有内容，即第一章进行重制以符合其预期。[12]
2020年8月中旬，Zerjox被指控其涉嫌盗用MCatR的引擎制作游戏，Last Breath也因此牵连并被诟病其想法以及制作精良程度。[13][14]受此事件影响，Team Imagination最终分崩离析，原像素美术作者Litreal也撤销了该项目对其作品的使用权，这使得Zerjox不得不自行重新绘制游戏内Sans的精灵图。[15]同年10月，Zerjox发布了对指控的回应视频，并与相关人员进行了和解。[16][17]期间，Zerjox因指控事件一度离开Undertale社区，故而委托了复读鸭FDY制作原计划的第三阶段重制游戏。[18][19]
2021年初，Zerjox再次萌生了重启Last Breath的想法，尽管其当时仍处于退出社区的状态，但该项目重启工作则一直在幕后开展。[20]同年6月至7月间，前团队成员Juora冒名顶替早已离开Undertale社区多年的TropicTV加入了该项目制作团队，并为该项目创作了两首一度作为官方内容的曲目。7月，Juora将该项目官方服务器的管理员权限授予Xaev与Jakw，前者在此期间多以“Mr. Last Breath”的身份活跃于Discord。当月10日，三人利用权限之便先后摧毁该项目的GameJolt主页以及其他社交账号，并冒充作Zerjox以恶意诋毁其本人。[1][21][22]当天的数小时后，Last Breath的GameJolt主页得以恢复，肇事的三人随后也被管理员封禁处理。[23]
2021年10月31日，Zerjox在GameJolt发布了Last Breath的首篇开发日志，其中提及Zerjox组建了新的创作团队，同时该项目也在筹划一系列翻新，并做出了包括缩减Sans的战斗阶段、扩充剧情章节、替换所有配乐等决定。[20]2022年8月，Zerjox为该项目创建了SoundCloud与YouTube账号以便于发布相关媒体。[24]同年10月末，Zerjox正式对外展示了游戏的实际制作进展，其中开场动画与菜单界面已几近完成，第一阶段后续回合与其新配乐的制作也在稳步进行中。[25][26]但随后不久，Zerjox因个人缘由卸任了团队领导。2023年2月4日，Zerjox发帖向公众告知了这一人员变动——制作团队的编剧TallDudeWithPurpleHoodie与程序员Noriega接替了Zerjox成为该项目的新持有者。[27]二人接任团队领导一职后，游戏的制作始终没有明显的进展，故Zerjox在同年8月重新回归并担任了团队总监。[28]
2023年10月31日，Zerjox在开发日志中展示了已完成的第一阶段与第二阶段的工作进度。[29]2024年，为了预热第一章演示版本游戏的发布，Zerjox在8月28日发布了第二阶段的配乐Twisted Reality。[30]尽管该曲反响热烈，但收获的评价却褒贬不一，其主要针对Zerjox创作的部分——歌词和音乐视频的配图动画。当月30日，Last Breath的未完成演示版本游戏遭到泄露。[31]与此同时，围绕Zerjox所做的不当行为的指控再次发酵。[1]在指控消息大范围传播前，Zerjox将该项目的所有权转交给了Expressly并离开了互联网。[32][33][34]

2024年9月3日，Expressly在Last Breath的GameJolt主页发布了详细的所有权说明公告。其中，Expressly表示Luciii.dll和FPLester将与其一同作为该项目的团队领导，但二人在随后的某段时间内卸任了团队共同领导一职并交由编剧Spice担任；而前Team Imagination的首席曲师Benjamin Crimson也被重新招募进团队协助创作。[33]同年10月，由于Zerjox领导的重启版游戏大部分内容均已被泄露且被废弃，项目制作团队正式发布了其第一章的第二阶段游玩演示视频，[35][36]可游玩版本也在当月发布。[37]与此同时，团队原计划直接在废弃的游戏构筑上实施新想法，但随后决定将后续开发工作迁移至新游戏引擎。[38]废弃的游戏构筑则在经过调整与增改以确保完整后，[39]于12月1日作为可游玩的废弃第一章正式发布。[40]
2024年12月26日，项目制作团队正式公开了Last Breath: Bullet Train的衍生游戏企划，其将包含遗存版第二阶段及其配乐The Slaughter Continues的翻新并预计于2025年初发布。[38]2025年间，团队的主要工作中心都在Bullet Train的开发上。同年4月，Bullet Train游戏被宣布开发工作已几经完成，[41]但由于游戏编程因引擎的转变而重写，其最终没能在原定当年的项目周年庆发布。[42]
背景故事
一名人类在地底突然现身，并开始无故屠戮怪物。浩劫反复无常，时断时续，直到，人类发现了一扇神秘的门。在好奇心的驱使下，人类打开了门。一个怪异的生物伫立在房间中央，残败不堪，毫无生气。就在人类试图与它互动时，它却无故消失了……
这名生物终于得以解放，随即游荡于四处。最后，它找到了一个落脚点。它遇到了一位名叫Sans的骷髅。在发现了他的潜能后，这名生物便经常向他谈论自己的假说与理论，甚至提及了他的经历。现在，Sans明白了所发生的一切，他发誓只要自己一息尚存，就会不惜一切代价阻止这些屠戮。
